B​rief History

AEC Ltd. is the proud partner with Medora/SolarBee of North America and is the Authorized Reseller in New Zealand. The founders of Medora Corporation formerly named SolarBee have been industrial pump engineers since 1975, and tested the first long distance solar-powered circulator in 1998. That project led to the launch of the SolarBee brand of circulators in September, 2001. Since then, they have continually advanced the technology. Going from 1 model in 2001 to 20 models today, from daytime-only operation to 24/7/365 around-the-clock operation, and from analog to digital control for outstanding reliability. One large machine manufactured today can replace 20 of the largest machines made in 2001. Since 2008 AEC Ltd. has served as an official authorized dealer and consultant of SolarBee & GridBee equipment.

Lake, Reservoir & Raw Water Storage Facilities:
In thermally stratified reservoirs, lakes, and ponds, the thermocline separates the warmer epilimnion from the colder, deeper hypolimnion. The SolarBee has an adjustable intake hose that creates long-distance circulation either within the epilimnion or down into the hypolimnion, depending on lake management objectives.

By the start of 2010, over 2,000 SolarBee circulators had been successfully deployed in hundreds of water bodies. In 2009, Medora Corporation (as SolarBee) placed 6th in the Artemis Project's list of "Top 50" water companies worldwide, and was recognized for its technology, intellectual property, and market potential. Many case studies and references can be provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of SolarBee equipment and the strength of the team of scientists, engineers and field service personnel. Medora believes they have collected and analyzed more reservoir water quality data than any other private company in the world, and are using the accumulated knowledge to continually increase the effectiveness of their products.

Medora Corporation Potable Tank Mixing:

Thoroughly mixing water storage tanks ensures uniform distribution of disinfectants and prevents stagnant water areas. Well-mixed tanks consume fewer disinfectant chemicals, produce fewer disinfection by-products, and eliminate the need for energy-intensive and costly deep-cycling or flushing.

Medora Corporation mixers' energy-efficient, high-volume flow capabilities can be used to increase the baffle factor and actual T10 detention time in your treatment plant. (T10 is the time at which 90 percent of the water remains in the CT basin.) Increased detention time allows a lower chlorine level to be used to meet the required CT, or chlorine concentration multiplied by time. A lower chlorine level will lower your total trihalomethane (TTHM) potential.

Available in solar-powered or energy-efficient electric models: SolarBee solar-powered and GridBee electric potable water mixers completely mix all shapes and sizes of tanks from corner to corner, including the boundary layers where bacteria can build up. Each potable mixer comes complete with chemical injection capability, and we offer a convenient disinfectant boosting system accessory should boosting be desired at the tank. Our collapsible units are designed to install in less than a day through a hatch as small as 18", and our GS-12 through a hatch as small as 12", without costly infrastructure changes and without taking the tank out of service.
